Cell Biology & Cytology

Cytology 2e provides the practicing and trainee pathologist with a practical guide to the diagnostic interpretation of cytological specimens. The book is concise yet covers all of the organ systems in which the procedure is used , the number of pages devoted to each body site is proportional to the clinical relevance of cytology for that site. Each chapter includes a discussion of indications and methods-particularly useful for pathologists performing their own FNA biopsies-normal anatomy, histology and cytology are covered before focusing on non-neoplastic conditions as well as benign and malignant neoplasms. Each chapter contains a section on differential diagnosis and cytologic findings are accompanied with ancillary diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular biology where appropriate. The book is lavishly illustrated with colour images in order to ensure that it will serve as a practical daily resource in the laboratory.

Reviews

  • "At last! A cytopathology text at once comprehensive and portable!...This book is well worth the money. The reader also will make a good investment in the time spent reading this book. I wager that it will become a standard, and am pleased that I was asked to review it. I have learned much in the process, despite my 26 years in the specialty." -- Dorothy L. Rosenthal, Professor of Pathology and Oncology, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions , American Journal of Clinical Pathology
  • "The strong point of the book for me was an appreciation of the need to understand surgical pathology and to incorporate pertinent clinical information in reaching a diagnosis...I can recommend this useeful, practical book to all pathologists concerned with diagnostic cytopathology. Another attractive feature is that the book can benefit cytotechnologists in their work. Bernard M. Wagner , New York University School of Medicine" -- Bernard M. Wagner , New York University School of Medicine , Modern Pathology.
