Administration
Acquisition of new knowledge and skills is an ongoing activity for healthcare professionals. Medical facilities must ensure that employees have the skills to meet the every-changing needs of patients and the organization. Unfortunately, staff training activities often have little connection with the organization’s strategic priorities. By linking educational offerings with the organization’s business and performance goals, staff will be better prepared for their new work roles in tomorrow’s patient care delivery environment.
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:
- describe the importance of integrating the organization’s performance goals with staff training objectives.
- discuss how to link workforce education with the organization’s mission, core business initiatives and critical success factors.
- create a workforce development system that meets the future patient care needs of the organization and satisfies the professional growth needs of individuals.
- design targeted training strategies based on departmental and organizational improvement goals.
